To think that there may be a living parasite in you sounds like something off of the Travel Channel. We’ve all see the TV show where a person comes back from Myanmar and has some insane parasite in their brain.
Many times we calm ourselves by saying, “I’ll be safe I don’t go anywhere.” Well, you might be wrong. There are some major parasites, fungal infections and worms that are pervasive in the Western World.
What Is Candida?
What is Candida Infection? Let me explain.
Many healthy individuals will have Candida. Oftentimes, it will live on the skin, the vagina or digestive tract.
In these cases it isn’t dangerous. It can’t do its damage unless left to its own devices.
Candidiasis and You
The issue with Candida is that it is aggressive. It will take advantage of the right environment. It loves the perfect storm.
Candida is fine if it is held at bay by good bacteria. However, good bacteria and our Western diets do not go hand in hand.
We flood our bodies with Antibiotics. This form of medication is not all bad. However, it is exactly as the name states Anti (against) bio (life). It kills everything.
When you kill everything you need to replenish the good bacteria in your gut. Candida, being one of the many evil pathogens, yeasts and molds, will move in with vengeance.
Candida and Leaky Gut
To understand the correlation here we need to dig a little deeper into what Candida is and does.
Your bodies defense mechanisms struggle to defeat Candida. It has a unique protein that allows it to adhere to the gut lining. This adhesive protein disables your bodies natural mechanisms of removal.
Now, Candida is asexual. Hold on, I promise this is important. When Candida grows it does something called “budding.” This slow growth method is much like a flower or a tree that buds flowers.
Because Candida is asexual, and does not need a mate, it is virulent. As it grows it produces more branches off of those buds. Those branches multiply branches and their branches multiply branches.
These act likes roots of a tree. As they get longer and stronger they literally burrow holes in the lining of your gut.
As you can imagine, stabbing the lining of your gut with Candida Roots is never a good thing. This, even after Candida is controlled, causes food to permeate into the blood stream. Thus, you experience Leaky Gut.
I know that this is hard to hear. You wanted an easy answer to, “what is Candida Infection?” The worst part is that Candida feeds on sugar and fats. Basically, it eats what we eat.
Then, even if we defeat it, we’re left with Leaky Gut. All in all, this means that you need to be vigilant about healing your gut.
Well, that’s why we’re here, to help you! So, please poke around our site for healthy recipes and tips on how to heal your gut.
