This might come as a shock to you, but not all probiotics are created equal. In fact, some probiotics can even cause more problems in your gut depending on the overall health of your inner ecosystem. Losing hope right now gives you no power to go into the future. Trying and failing can be the one thing that sends most of us into a land of, “it will never happen for me.” This is by far the worst place you can be, hopeless and depressed. What you need to do is focus on probiotic strains that have been proven through double blind studies in published journals to work.
Most probiotics are most likely making your situation worse. So blindly taking strains is only going to flare up your condition and disappoint you.
Yes, intentionally taking beneficial bacteria for your gut in the form of probiotic strains is part of cultivating a strong, healthy inner ecosystem. However, if you battle IBS-D, IBS-C, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis or a mix of both, just centering your focus on altering the bacteria in your gut (by changing your diet, implanting beneficial bacteria in the gut etc) is only a drop in the bucket to what it’s going to take to attack the internal root problems that are causing your IBS symptoms in the first place.
THIS is SO IMPORTANT for you to understand. In fact, this is the BIGGEST mistake IBS sufferers make in trying to manage their symptoms. They try to stop their symptoms by only attacking the ‘tip of the iceberg’ of the problem through using elimination diets, probiotics, supplements etc. They are trying to solve their digestive problems by focusing on ‘patching up’ the problems on the surface.
But, what you need to do is attack the deeper internal problems – the root causes of what are responsible for wrecking your body from the inside out. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in a vicious cycle of reoccurring flare ups and chronic pain and suffering.
You’ll be imprisoned to your IBS symptoms for the rest of your life, not able to function properly physically, psychologically and emotionally. You will be ripped away from your friends, family and your passions by your nagging, often crippling, IBS symptoms.
If you have IBS-D, your life will be one of being chained to the bathroom.
If you have IBS-C, you will deal with constant bloating, severe abdominal pain and a colon that is clogged with toxic fecal matter that you can’t eliminate. So the stagnant fecal matter starts to harden in your large intestine – dramatically increasing your risk of colon cancer.
Either IBS-D or -C , yours is a life of despair and feeling completely out of control over your own body.
Extensive research shows that elimination diets such as the LowFODMAP Diets are only band aid approaches – only patching up things up on a surface level to help you just ‘get through the day’. They don’t attack the deeper problems – the root causes of what’s responsible for wrecking your body.
The truth is that you need a well formulated plan backed by proven and tested scientific research to attack the root causes of your IBS for good. This, in turn, will prevent reoccurrence of symptoms so don’t keep returning to that vicious cycle of: flare-up – try a new bandaid approach flare-up – try a new bandaid approach etc etc.
Otherwise, you will keep picking up books or researching online only to have these sources tell you to ‘do this or you’re going to die’ and another that tells you ‘don’t do that other thing or you’ll die …do this’!
Sadly, most of these books and articles online are backed by outdated research or no scientific research at all. You are then left confused and frustrated by the endless amount of conflicting information.
Then, you go back to those restrictive diets you’ve tried a million times and just muscle it out with will power – diets that don’t even work… that you give up in 3 days.
Then, you’re hopeless. AND YOU STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT’S RIGHT AND WHAT’S WRONG. Be warned: this can be fatal for your future health. You are at risk for debilitating diseases. You don’t have 10 years for trial and error. You need to change NOW.
To get rid of your IBS and stop the vicious cycle of re-occurring symptoms year in and year out, you need to the root causes of your symptoms. Yes, you need to bring down the inflammation in your body by to annihilating parasites and rebalancing your gut, but again, that’s only a drop in the bucket to attacking the ROOT of what’s causing your IBS.
