A groundbreaking finding has now flooded the mainstream health world. The experts have all agreed. The Mitochondria are one of the most powerful indicators of our health.
If our Mitochondria are sick, we’re sick. They produce the ATP energy that feeds our cells. In most of us they are not in good shape.
Yet, what many experts are not talking about is the link between gut health and Mitochondrial Health. I want to discuss that here.
If the Mitochondria are so important for your health than the gut’s impact on them is extremely important to know.
Mitochondria, Why Are They Important?
What the heck is a Mitochondria? Please see this article to find out more.
I would have crawled over shattered glass to know this when I began my health journey.
The power of these small organelles in every cell is astonishing. Their ability to manipulate DNA expression and cell health is second to none.
Not to mention that the richest concentration of Mitochondria lies in your head. That’s right, your brain contains the greatest abundance of these life giving powerhouses.
What Effects the Mitochondria
The research is exploding on what effects Mitochondrial Health. The Ice Man, Wim Hof seems to have figured out some hacks.
He has been dunking himself in freezing cold water for years. This extreme exposure to cold has created a high density of healthy Mitochondria in his body.
However, I wanted to cover something cropping up in the scientific literature!
That’s the impact of Leaky Gut or Gut Permeability on Mitochondrial Health. It turns out that certain bad bacteria and a leaky gut spells disaster for the Mitochondria.
How Does Leaky Gut Effect Mitochondria?
Leaky gut is an interesting disease. The gut lining is only a cell wall in thickness. Actually it is, like the brain, extremely rich in Mitochondria.
Meaning, that the gut lining can also become permeable or leaky by weak Mitochondria. The gut lining needs what the Mitochondria produce, ATP-Energy, to stay intact.
When the gut wall doesn’t have a sufficient amount of ATP-Energy it gets weak. This causes permeability and inflammatory responses.
A Leaky Gut allows far too many toxins into the blood stream. Because that barrier isn’t present, all sorts of environmental toxins such as mold, fungus and heavy metals leak into your system.
The toxins in your system cause your Mitochondria to underperform. This weakens the cells expression. Inevitably, this leads to disease.
